Now those aren’t backplane speeds or pie in the sky, UDP 1500 byte packet throughput numbers with protection turned off either. Vendors marketing teams love to quote us numbers that are meaningless in the real world. The performance numbers Cisco is quoting are real world performance numbers based on a mix of various rich media traffic samples with recommended firewall protection features turned on.

Juniper Networks, Inc., the leader in high-performance networking, today announced that the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) has selected its best-in-class, secure remote access solution to provide teachers and school administrators fast, reliable and secure access to a Web-based report card system from remote locations. By deploying the Juniper Networks Secure Access (SA) SSL VPN 6000 appliance, the school board was able to increase operational efficiencies without compromise to application or network performance.

Until recently, teachers accessed report cards through an application running on an internal server. With a finite number of school-based PCs, 5,500 teachers and nearly 400 school administrators accessing the system, the school board determined it needed to build a high-performance Web-based report card application that would provide teachers with secure remote access and the freedom to fill out report cards for more than 90,000 students at their convenience.

Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. has announced it has added messaging security and zero-hour protection to its UTM-1 appliances and VPN-1 UTM software that now brings protection against e-mail intrusion, spam and viruses to end users.

“We wanted to make sure we were not just releasing check box type functionality but took time to understand what the real needs were for messaging security and provide a solution,” said Paul Kaspian, project manager with Check Point.

Check Point’s messaging security platform in UTM-1 includes e-mail intrusion prevention technologies combined with multi-layered defense against spam and viruses. Anti-spam technologies include advanced pattern detection to detect image-based and foreign language spam, and IP-based reputation scoring to catch newly emerging attacks like PDF spam and MP3 spam. Kaspian said that the new platform blocks 97 per cent of all spam and there less than one in a million false positives. Additionally, Check Point messaging security also offers multi-layered anti-virus with both signature-based protection against known threats as well as zero-day protection to block attacks as they occur and before a signature is available.

Propalms, Inc. is pleased to announce that the Company has signed a LOI to purchase worldwide IP rights and source code of a Virtual Private Network (VPN) solution. The product will be able to be sold as an individual application for enterprises that already have server-based computing, which opens up new multimillion dollar opportunities for Propalms. The IP VPN market is expected to grow to over $5.8 Billion in 2009, according to ZDNet Research.

Propalms VPN will provide secure remote access for small to large enterprises without any restrictions on the amount of users logging in remotely. Since applications are managed centrally by Propalms VPN, operational costs are reduced and network security is improved. Typically, development of this software product would take two years and cost over $2 million; however, Propalms intends to acquire the finished product and the intellectual property from a software development company in India. This will allow Propalms to release the product to market in the first half of 2008.

“This new opportunity has the potential to generate substantial revenue for the Company and we are extremely excited about the prospects that it holds for our customers and our shareholders. This product will allow any number of users to remotely access their applications, which will enable companies to run more efficiently and cut down on their operational costs,” stated Owen Dukes, CEO of Propalms, Inc.

Propalms recently announced that the Company will be entering the desktop virtualization market in 2008 with the launch of its Virtual Desktop Manager technology within its new TSE product.

About Propalms, Inc.:

Propalms TSE, the complete Server-Based Management solution that extends Microsoft Terminal Services 2000/2003, offers features such as Application Publishing, Seamless Windows, Resource-based Load balancing, and Web-based management consoles.

NCP Engineering GmbH releases the new version of its Secure Entry Client.

NCP is thereby the first manufacturer worldwide to offer an IPSec VPN client
for Windows XP in its 64 bit version. Additional important features are the
2-factor authentication solution OTP Mobile; besides that the client supports
certificates with 4096 bit key lengths.

The NCP VPN Client thereby supports all current Microsoft operating
systems: Windows Vista and Windows XP for 32/64 Bit, Windows 2000 as well as
Windows Mobile and CE. Consequently, integrated configurations and security
measures can be built in that are independent of the operating system. With
the NCP Secure Client, it’s all about a universal security and communications
software for implementation in any desired remote access VPN environment. The
software is compatible with VPN gateways from all well known vendors. They
are implemented anyplace where gateway manufacturers offer no corresponding
client for certain operating systems and customers need easy to use,
universally applicable VPN clients.
